神奈川県横浜市の閑静な住宅街に建つ、夫婦と子供の3人家族のための住宅です。
クライアントは、クラシックコンサートの生音源の録音、編集、保管といった、単なる音楽鑑賞におさまらない活動を趣味とされています。膨大なコレクションは、CDはもちろんのこと、アナログレコードや7インチ、10インチのオープンリール等々の様々なアナログ音源メディアで構成され、その中には世界的にも貴重な音源が多く含まれており、これらの多種多様なメディアを収納することが必須でありました。
また、木造とするならば、国産材の木材を使用し、木の香りのするような住宅にしたいという要望もあり、「収納」と「木造」ということが設計のキーワードとなりました。そこで私たちは、40×235という薄平たい国産杉材を切妻型に組んだ構造フレーム＜フィンフレーム＞によって構成する住宅を提案しました。
この断面寸法のフレームを、桁行き方向へ300mmピッチで配列すると、最大スパン6.6mの空間ボリュームを切り取ることができます。その住居となるボリュームの中で、フィン柱が落ちる位置をプランニングに応じてランダムに変え、そうすることで、構造的なバランスをボリューム全体でとるようになり、壁面・天井に現れるフィンフレームの単調な表情は、変化に富んだリズミカルな表情へと変貌します。
40mmという薄い柱が落ちるその壁面は、構造要素であると同時に、造作の収納棚であり、木質の「ひだ」となって居住空間を包み込みます。
建物配置はオーソドックスな北側配置ですが、内部のプランニングは緩やかに傾斜した敷地形状に対応し、諸室をスキップさせてボリューム内に展開しています。さらに、隣接する１階リビングと２階寝室に小さな階段を設け回遊性を持たせることで、２階建てながら、パブリックな中間階とその上下にプライベートスペースを持つ三層構成としています。
また、木質の「ひだ」は、空間の強い構成要素として住宅のいたるところに立ち現れるが、取り合う天井（壁）の素材や色の組み合わせを諸室ごとに変えることで、それぞれの空間の雰囲気に変化を与えてます。

This project is for a family, parent and a daughter, in a quiet residential area in Yokohama city, Kanagawa prefecture. The client has a extensive collection of precious music tapes and CDs in various media. To provide the space for archiving those collections is one of the important requirement of this project. Also, they preferred the space surrounded by wooden materials with warm atmosphere. "Archiving" and "Wood" are the key features of this project. We proposed "Fin-Frame" structure with thin Japanese cedar member, 40mm x 235mm, in gabled roof shape. The "Fin-Frame" spans maximum 6.6m and arranged at 300mm on center. The span of the frame varies per the planning and the structural system is balanced as a whole. At the ceiling and the wall, fins provide a rhythmical expression and are used as a shelves for archive. The house is located at the north side of the site. The interior spaces step corresponding with the sloped landscape of the site. On the 1st floor, living room and children's play room connected with small steps and provide a common character in the house. On the basement and the 2nd floor, the archive room and bed rooms are located. The "Fin-Frame" integrates those spaces and also, with changing the materials/colors between the fins, creates various character of each spaces.
